Direct flights from London Gatwick to Liberia, Costa Rica

As each new route opens up, rest assured that Playas del Coco will get a lion’s share of tourism due to the fact that it closest beach to Liberia Airport and that it’s infrastructure is unmatched in the province of Guanacaste.

Driving from Liberia Airport (LIR) to Playas del Coco is quite simple and requires only two right- turns to get you there.

The first right is when leaving Daniel Ouber International onto the main highway where you’ll coast for roughly 10KM (6M) and the second right is just past the town of Communidad.

After passing through this small highway community, you will see huge green signs with arrows that point the way to Playas del Coco.

Follow the arrows and turn right at the big intersection after town and follow it all the way to main beach, which is roughly 16km (10M) down the road.

The only thing you have to be careful during your drive is halfway between Communidad and Playas del Coco, where the road forks left on a sharp-right turn.

The curve almost makes you think the road goes to the left, but doing so brings you to Sardinal and not to Coco. Keeping to the right and NOT crossing the yellow line will take you to straight to the beach.

In summary:
Turn right out of Liberia Airport onto the main highway.
Then turn right after the town of Communidad.

Remember to stay right at the corner of Sardinal and you’ll arrive safe and sound in Playas del Coco in less than 25 minutes!

If you are staying at Agua de Lechuga or wish to look at our Condos for Sale, then continue through town past Pacifico Mall and turn right on the first street past the Coco Bay Casino (Lizard Lounge is on the corner).

Follow this road for less than 1K (0.5M) and then turn onto the SECOND street on your right and follow it to the end.

Here you will find us on your left roughly 300M or so and shortly after the first intersecting road.

Our trademark infinity is visible form the road and you are welcome to choose any parking spot you want out front.

Entrance is though our main gate at the right-hand side of the property and you will find our Property Management office on your immediate right.

Driving from the airport to Playas del Coco is quite simple and requires only two turns to get you there. Click here for our quick driving directions.

If your rental car is waiting for you in the airport parking lot, just follow the one-way exit out and then turn right on the main highway.

Some rental companies may shuttle you to their location, but rest assured it will be on the main highway and very close to the airport. When leaving a rental company parking area, if you are on the opposite side of the airport when entering the main highway, turn left instead of right.

If unsure which side you are on, just ask your rental agent to point you in the direction of Playas del Coco and enter the main highway using their directions.

Once on the main highway, the airport runways will be on your right side for the first mile of your journey (unless you past them on route to your rental car location) and you must drive in this direction for roughly for roughly 10KM (6M) past the airport entrance.

After five miles you will cross a large bridge and will see a plaza on your right which includes a CitiBank and a large Hardware store. Seeing these landmarks will ensure you are going in the right direction and not towards Liberia.

Continuing past this plaza will bring you to the small village of Communidad, where you must slow down both to keep to the speed limit and to ensure you don’t miss your turn.

At the end of the village you will see a large intersection with green overhead signs stating Playas del Coco. Turn right again or will otherwise end up in Tamarindo.

Now you are on a direct road from Communidad to Playas del Coco, which is roughly 16km (10M) and ends at our main beach . While there are many twists and turns along the way, you will follow this road all the way to town.

Roughly half-way, the road will bank sharply to the right and will also fork to left.. Stay to the right as you approach Sardinal to ensure you continue on to Playas del Coco, as forking left will only lead you into a small village.

Once you enter the town of Playas del Coco, you must continue until one of the very last streets before the beach before turning right to get to Agua de Lechuga.

Your landmarks in town are the Flor de Itabo Casino on the right which you see directly upon entering. Soon after you will reach the the Pacifico Mall (Auto Mercado) and you will need to slow down beforehand, as you are now entering the main strip and there will be many pedestrians walking about.

Shortly after the mall you will see a road to Ocotal on your left, then speedbumps right beside the Coco Bay Casino.

After the casino you will see a few shops and then a street on your right with a restaurant/ bar on the corner.

Turn right after Lizard Lounge, follow this road for less than 1K (0.5M) and then turn onto the SECOND street on your right. If you look left here you will see the ocean and your easy access to the beach.

Follow this second road away from the beach another 300M or so and you will find us on your left, shortly after the first intersecting road.

You see our pool directly through out gate and you are welcome to choose any available parking spot you like.

Entrance is though our main gate at the right-hand side of the property and you will find our Property Management office on your immediate right.

If you look at Google’s Satellite Map link below, you will see that Agua de Lechuga sits at the end of a dead-end street, making it a very quiet and safe location.

The other end of this street leads directly to Playas del Coco Beach and is roughly 300m from our entrance gate.

When heading toward the beach, if you turn left at the first street and walk across the little bridge, there is woodland path that leads straight to the center of town. It too is literally a leisurely three-minute walk, but hard to see directly on Google Maps.

If you were driving, you would make a left at the second street (road before beach). This would lead you to the nightclub / market section of the main strip. Turning left again would lead you to the center of town.

Our other two available one-bedroom units (A107 & B104) are exactly the same as the one on Ebay, but have different furniture. These units are listed at $82,000 and offer in-house developer-financing.

While Unit B102 is for sale on our Ebay Auction, the unit itself is at the moment occupied by a long-term renter who desires to renew their rental agreement when ownership is changed.

If as the new owner, you weren’t planning on living in the unit full-time, then it makes perfect sense to enroll your unit in our rental program. This way your condo “earns money” while you are not staying in it and becomes expense free.

Since we already have a renter in place, the new owner of B102 could easily receive $3000-$4000 annually in their pocket straight away. Benefits in our program are not simply a 50% gross-income return, but include zero maintenance fees and utilities costs.

This leaves property taxes, at less than $175 annually, as your only “out of pocket” expense. Which means you are also not having to pay your regular condo fees and technically keep even more money in your pocket.

On top of your monthly income and condo fee exemptions, members of our rental program are allowed 30 calendar days in which to reside in their unit. Your allotted time can be staggered throughout the year and if you want to stay another month or another three months in your unit, this can easily scheduled with advance notice.

When adding extra time to yearly stay, you will however, lose rental income and will be responsible for paying your own maintenance fees and utility costs for as long as you stay.

If you have already have long-term renter (like B102 does now), to keep them happy, we will offer them alternative accommodation while you are in town, in hopes they will return after you are gone.

We take very good care of our long-term renters, as they are generally hassle-free and provide our owners with a steady income stream that cannot be guaranteed with short-term rentals.

The owners also seem to enjoy long-term renters more, as they tend to care more about their surroundings, keep their units in very good condition and also add to the calm ambiance found at Agua de Lechuga.

Unit B102 in Phase I of Agua de Lechuga went up for auction on Ebay today. This is a 500 sq ft., fully furnished, one-bedroom condo located on the ground floor of building A.

If you are into water sports, then you only have go as far as the beach in Playas del Coco! Sport fishing tours run straight out from Coco Bay, as do surfing tours to Witch’s Rock (Costa Rica’s most famous surf spot).

Surfers can even be found at dawn on the eastern end of the Coco beach where nice rolling waves break across a far-out shoal.

Snorkelling and dive tours companies are also located right in town and a lot of them usually only go about 6km down the coast to the coral reefs near Ocotal. Sunset cruises sail from the beach as well and a Pirate of the Caribbean fiesta boat is a permanent staple in Coco Bay during high-season, as are parasailing tour boat.

If you want to experience a canopy zipline, a great ride is but fifteen minutes away and they’ll even pick you up if you book through a local hotel. This canopy tour has a waterfall /natural swimming pool break in the middle and is one of my favourite canopies in all of Costa Rica.

On -site you will find a small Costa Rica zoo that is unlike any North America zoo you’ve even seen. Here in paradise, you can literally walk right into the monkey cage and have them climb all over you as your guides take photos and help you feed the monkeys!

They also have snakes at the zoo and your guides again will take photos as they place a 25-foot, but docile, boa constrictor directly on your shoulders. Wildlife photo ops here are some the best in Costa Rica!

Whatever you are looking, whether adventure, activities or just to experience in awe, the wonders that Mother Nature has to offer in this eco wonderland, owning a condo in Playas del Coco can be the gateway to your tropical- living dreams.

Coco beach stretches 4km in length with full access throughout and along the western edge of Coco Bay, you will also find a small secluded beach that is hidden from view by the coastline.

Since Playas del Coco Beach faces westward out in to the Pacific Ocean, our sunsets amaze all who are lucky enough to gaze upon them.

Almost every night during high-season the town is literally painted orange. On the best of nights, the beach fills with romancing tourists who silently watch the sun set across the boats in Coco Bay and in- between the coast and a small island the sits close by.

During the early morning hours, you will find monkeys foraging throughout the treetop canopies in town as they feed and swing across the shops. These little showboats especially love the Guanacaste trees on the main strip and the one by the main beach entrance.

Murmuring, jaw-dropping tourists with cameras in-hand can also be found filling the streets each time the monkeys come out to play.

Many tourist boutiques can be found in most Costa Rica tourist towns, but Playas del Coco has a few extras that include our Pacifico Mall. While not large by “North American standards”, you will find yourself shopping here often.

The mall includes a huge AutoMercado (grocery store), Bank of San Jose, Pharmacy, Subway, Gourmet Ice Cream Shop, Arenas (surfer clothing store) and a few other miscellaneous shops.

There are also high-end artist and souvenir shops beside the mall in Pacifico Village where you can find one-of-a-kind treasures. Directly across from the mall you find yet another full-size supermarket (Luperon) with small specialty shops on its upper-floor and two appliance stores directly adjacent.

While this may seem quite normal back home; in Costa Rica it is not standard to find everything you need in small beach towns, only in large cities.

Being centrally located to both the airport and the Pacific Highway, travel time is not only greatly reduced when coming and going, but also when shopping and when visiting other tourist destinations across Costa Rica.

In comparison to Tamarindo, Playas del Coco condos on average are priced 50% less per square foot and offer extra convenience and safety.
